Gerry collaborates with art galleries, where dance speaks to art through an interpretation of the exhibition. She uses the art works, sculptural forms and visual images as stimulus to develop ideas for movement.
The dance work in galleries continues the theme of making dance in unusual places, taking image and form as a starting point. The dancers then become an integral part of the gallery space, and visitors get more than they bargained for!
Turveyworld has been witnessed at Whitworth Manchester, Leeds, Burnley, Stoke on Trent, Huddersfield galleries and Yorkshire Sculpture Park, as well as IZIKO National Art Gallery, South Africa and The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery, University of Leeds.
See the events page for opportunities to participate in future workshops.
