Dance in Art Galleries...

During the past few years Gerry has been collaborating with several Art galleries and developing dance work in relation to given Art works. Using the art works and the themes, Gerry works with a variety of participants using the ideas of shape, image, dynamic, flow, to create movement phrases. This work then becomes an integral part of the gallery space and visitors get more than they bargained for!

She has been working at Leeds, Burnley, Stoke on Trent, Huddersfield galleries and Yorkshire Sculpture Park, as well as IZIKO National Art Gallery, South Africa and The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery, University of Leeds.

Sometimes the gallery dance workshops have also been open to visual artists to draw/sketch the dancers working in the space. This has proved to be a highly creative interaction, and one that will be developed over the coming months.
