Dance Projects
Through her work in developing countries, Gerry has
supported communities, contributing to the empowerment of emerging and
existing groups and dance companies.
Namibia,
January 2008

During January 2008 Gerry had a two week residency with
The Ombetja Yehinga Organisation (OYO) in Namibia. This Organisation aims
at decreasing the impact of HIV/AIDS among young people by using Arts
as a tool to create social awareness.
During the residency Gerry worked with the staff to both create a new
choreography….’Your Life is Vital’ and to equip them
with new ways of using dance as a tool for change.

USA 2006
Arts Council England funded an exciting project in
Amherst, Massachusetts working alongside Kaz DanceHUMAN Theater, an emerging
performance group of dancers with diverse disabilities. It is hoped that
this work will be continued through a series of summer schools.
South Africa 2005
Cape Town South Africa is the home of Remix Dance
Company, the only integrated company in South Africa. Gerry worked with
the company for a year as Artist in Residence and Education Director.

Kenya and Uganda 2001/2003/2004
A UNESCO bursary funded a 3 month stay in Kenya,
where Gerry created a project with young dancers, artists and acrobats.
This was followed by an extended stay in Uganda working both with the
National Theatre and Makerere University. Her more recent visit to Kenya
focused on a research project with a group of dancers at the GoDown Centre
in Nairobi.

Romania 2000/2003
In Collaboration with Musica Romania and Action Space
Mobile, Gerry has run two training projects for Arts workers in orphanages
and hospitals in Romania.
Switzerland 2001
Les ARTpenteurs and Amnesty International hosted
the creation of a stunning visual performance alongside an Art Exhibition.
Gerry was invited to work with them as both performer and movement director.
